News2009 Our club and many clubs across the country have seen a large increase in new shooters and members. This is a good thing in the long term, but also creates some problems we have to address. Because of the nature of our sport and its use of guns, SAFETY has to always be our number one concern. We want this to be fun yet safe for everyone. We are setting up a mandatory safety and pistol proficiency program for any Non-USPSA member or Unclassified shooter that will be required before you can shoot an IPSC match at Arnold. We will also be setting up a Match DQ Safety review board that will examine any such incidents and determine if any additional safety courses are required or possible suspension's. We are going to encourage new shooters to participate in some steel plate match's first. There is very little movement and muzzle control is much easier for new shooters. It also gives the Range Officer's a better platform to assist new shooters in proper gun handling skills. The mandatory IPSC/USPSA safety class could be run after a steel match or scheduled with Rick or myself. You experienced guys should be adopting some of the newer shooters and mentoring them as well. WE all had help along the way. Last item is a reminder that ARPC is still a member only club. You can come and shoot 3 times as a guest and then you have to join. This is 3 times total (Two steel, one IPSC) or any combination of 3. This is not per year or per shooting discipline. The Board requires that we monitor this and play by the rules. Sorry if this got long, but I had allot of new information to get out there. I believe these changes are good for everyone in the long term and it is a work in progress. Expect some minor tweaking and changes. See ya on the range Jeff Matsche Match Director All new shooters whether they are members or not will IPSC matches are not a training ground, they are competitive
tests. Due to the influx of new shooters we have decided to limit
participants The shooting test below will be required for any new shooters before they are allowed to participate in ARPC matches
